1. Honorifics (존댓말):

In Korean, honorific language is crucial for showing respect in various social situations. The primary forms include:

  • 하십시오체 (Hasipsioche): This is a formal and polite style used in public announcements or written language.
    • Example: 계속해서 찾아 주시면 감사하겠습니다. (Gyesokhaeseo chaja jusimyeon kamsahagetseumnida) – Thank you for continuing to look.

2. Causative Forms:

  • -게 만들다 (-ge mandeulda): It means “to make” or “to cause” someone to do something.
    • Example: 시간을 낭비하게 만들지 마세요. (Siganeul nangbihage mandeulji maseyo) – Please don’t make waste time.

3. Conditional Forms:

Conditional forms are crucial for expressing hypothetical or future actions based on certain conditions. The main forms include:

  • -으면 (-eumyeon): Used for general conditions.
    • Example: 비가 오면 집에 있을게요. (Biga omyeon jibe isseulgeyo) – If it rains, I will be at home.
  • -ㄹ/을 거예요 (-l/geoyo): Used for expressing future conditions.
    • Example: 내일 시간이 있으면 연락할 거예요. (Naeil sigani isseumyeon yeollakhal geoyo) – If I have time tomorrow, I will contact you.
